Just bought GQ FAI and GQ III.Loads of poor German spelling as usual - bad proof-reading? Wanna list?Example - you use the alternative 'Bluecher' spelling for Blücher, but then forget to use it for Lützow, Nürnberg, Thüringen, Grosser Kurfürst, König, König Albert, and Friedrich der Gross should really be Friedrich der Grosse. In GQ III Bf 109 should read Gustav, and FW 190 either Würger or Wuerger...I liked the additional ship data given in the old GQ books so that other navies could be added. There was enough data to add your own ship classes. I hope you will expand the OB.Where is the Ersatz Yorck class? Württemberg?Without trawling through your entire Forum, have other navies been done apart from the Dutch in WW2? How can you do WW1 Mediterranean scenarios without France, or Black Sea scenarios without Turkey? What about hunting down von Spee (hypothetically) with the IJN?RegardsCharles

The use of anglicized spelling for the Germans was applied unevenly to be sure (and has been done by other authors, as well). Still, we should've caught these before they got out.As to the spelling of 'Gustav' and 'Friederich der Grosse'; well, typos can and do happen, unfortunately.

I liked the additional ship data given in the old GQ books so that other navies could be added. There was enough data to add your own ship classes. I hope you will expand the OB.

Ships can be easily added by using the Design File in Amendment 1 and the Ship Log excel sheet in the Downloads section.

Without trawling through your entire Forum, have other navies been done apart from the Dutch in WW2?

Most of the major ship classes of the major combatants have been covered in the Ship Logs. Additionally, some players have done some excellent work in creating and graciously uploading logs for the Norwegians and the Spanish (for the Spanish Civil War). These can also be found in the Download section. (Nice work, guys!)

Where is the Ersatz Yorck class? Württemberg? How can you do WW1 Mediterranean scenarios without France, or Black Sea scenarios without Turkey? What about hunting down von Spee (hypothetically) with the IJN?

Unfortunately, each sheet of logs and CRTs increases the price of the rules and, at some point, you have to make hard decisions regarding what can and cannot be included. The French (for FAI) was probably the hardest decision, since they're so critical to any Med scenarios. But in the final analysis (and after some hard discussions), they ended up on the cutting room floor. The same can be said of the IJN, USN and the Turks (and others, as well). As to the Wurttemburg, her sisters are already included, so her inclusion was not felt necessary. And, since we do not have any firm idea as to the Ersatz Yorck class ship names or their final design (several reliable sources do not agree on their final design), they were left out.I can say that a supplement with the French, USN, IJN (the last two limited to those ships that were used or could've reasonably been used in WWI) and possibly the Turks is in preparation. This will be along the lines of the Netherlands supplement with Ship Logs, CRTs and scenarios for each fleet. This should be ready for release within the next few months.

Many thanks for the detailed reply. I look forward to these. I will post some data shortly on British use of 1 ton depth charges and on WW2 submarine data.

My friends and I have been playing GQ3 for about a month. I have over a hundred 1/2400 WW1 figures, including some figures from the US Navy of WW1. Using my many books on warships, and the GQ3 design rules I have drawn SDSs of USA BBs from the South Carolina to the USS New Mexico. I enjoy using the US Fleet. We did a scenario in which the German battlecruiser fleet attempts to raid and stop the US laying of mines across the North Sea. This hypothetical battle would have occurred in 1918. The German BCs encountered some US battleships defending the minelayers... It is fun using the US ships with the Royal Navy. In GQ3, WW1, the USS Oklahoma, Arizona, and New Mexico are very formidable...
