Just looking for some guidance on how the extended campaign turn of 8 hours is handled.I understand that aircraft carry out a full mission during this turn length but my query is -If my search aircraft spot an enemy force is a strike expected to be allowed in the same turn ?My initial thought is that this is the intention but it isn't stated in the rule book. However, with such a long turn length it must be possible.Any input gratefully appreciated.Joe

Joe,My apologies for the delay in this response. I’ve been out of action for most of the past several weeks and regret it has taken some time to get caught up.You are quite correct. In the 8 hour time period simulated in the Extended Campaign Turn, aircraft remaining in the Launch (ready) box of the FLIGHT LOG can make air strikes after search aircraft spot an opposing force. In accordance with rule Section 4.5.2, each flight can fly a search mission or a strike mission during an Extended Campaign Turn. Search aircraft are limited to their search mission during the current Campaign Turn.Land based aircraft are further subject to availability for each “Day” Campaign Turn as described in rule Section 4.8.1. Undamaged carrier based flights are always available. You may further want to divide carrier air strikes into two strikes when more than 20 flights are “ready” on a carrier to simulate the time delays involved in launching and forming up very large strike formations. [These limitations are accounted for in tactical air operations and the one hour Campaign Turns.] Finally, use the TARGET MAXIMUM table on the CAMPAIGN AIR OPS chart detailed in rule Section 4.5.6 to simulate the accumulation of factors that limited concentration on individual targets during a strike.LONNIE
