Italian heavy cruiser main guns?

On the "Zara" class heavy cruiser Ship Logs the main armament is listed as :- 8"+ (eight plus) - what does the "plus" designate?

The Zara's 8" have a longer range thsn the 8" on the other Italian 8" CAs (Trento and Trieste). This is indicated by '8+' on the ship logs and refers to the '8+' boxed note on the Italian CRT. This allows the Zaras to fire out to 34000yds (the Trento and Trieste can't).
