Captain Bowen, having come within 1000 yards of the yet to be identified Spanish ship, sets Terpsichore's battle sails.  Capitan Don Tomas seeing the HMS Terpsichore closing fast gets his green crew moving and starts to maneuver for action.  After about 10 mins of maneuvering Capitan Don Tomas saw an opportunity to set up a raking shot on Terpsichore if he could just pull off a tacking maneuver.  Unfortunately, his green crew failed him and forced the Mahonesa to fall off.  Minutes later, and still a chance to tack and position well again and again his crew failed him.  Sitting duck Mahonesa was about to feel the wrath of Terpsichore's 12 pounders.  Some crewmen perished and the rigging sustained some minor hits.  Whew!  Mahonesa living up to her namesake, smooth as Mayonaisse! She fires back, time for Terpsichore to feel the pain.  Some crew perish but a critical hit on the Chains causes 4 rigging hits! Uh oh, Captain Bowen's crew will need to work hard and pray that a spar does not fall.  Success, passed rigging checks avert disaster for the Terpsichore but light on crew and moving crew to repair rigging makes it hard to load the now fired guns.

Repairs by Mahonesa are hampered by the greenness of the crew and they fail to repair.  Terpsichore also fails to repair.  Capitan Don Tomas is praying that the donations to the Church before his cruise wil be rewarded in Terpsichore failing a rigging check.  Alas, it was not to be and to add insult to injury the Terpsichore's crew repairs rigging and manages to reload.  Furthermore, Mahonesa fails a rigging check and loses its entire mizzenmast!  Aghh, slowing her down and a sea anchor to boot!  She is now desperately trying to cut away the wreckage before Terpsichore maneuvers for a killing shot.  two turns later the crew of the Mahonesa finally cuts away the Albatross that is the MizzenMast.  Sadly, she is too little too late as the Terpsichore is lined up for a Bow Raking shot!  A critical hit destroys the Wheel, almost all of the rigging, and the ensuing shrapnel fells Capitan Don Tomas!  With the ship nearly adrift and their Capitan dead the crew of the Mahonesa Strike their colors.

Great battle today and lots of fun!  Really loving Post Captain for the ease of play and realistic outcomes of battle.

"I wish to have no Connection with any Ship that does not Sail fast for I intend to go in harm's way.

Sounds like a good battle.  We've been doing a lot of these smaller actions lately and they are a lot of fun.
