Hello !!!I want to try to play a D-Day like landing. But their is so many allied landinc craft !!Maybe you can help me. I suppose that the smaller landing craft (LCVP or LCM for example) will be used in the first waves and, when the beach are sucure, larger landing craft will come in.One supplier (Leva Production http://www.geocities...s/levamain.html) make a nice LVT-5. I have ordered a few LCVP and LCM from GHQ. Can one or 2 LVT-5 possibly be use in the first waves ? Wich crafts were used in the first waves ?Thanks !!Robert

Sorry, I can see that I really use a big font for my previus post. The font in the windows where I first wrote my message was so small, I had think that increasing the font size was a great idea...

You want to use LCTs (Landing Craft Tank)for tanks and LCIs (Landing Craft Infantry)and LCAs (Landing Craft Assault) for infantry in the first waves. The LST (Landing Ship Tanks) and LSIs (Landing Ship Infnatry) beached themselves on the beach after secured to reinforce the invasion. The book D-Day by Warren Tute, John Costello and Terry Hughes has some great stuff on the invasion and its preparation. I heartily recommend it. :)

They also did use LCVP (Landing Craft Vehicle, Personnel) which moved infantry and vehicles (trucks, jeeps and the like) and DUKWs (used as trucks ferrying supplies from the ships to the troops ashore, but were not used to move toops in the first wave).A good basic rule of thumb is that LCx is a Landing Craft that was used to move assets to the shore on assault. LSx are Landing Ships that move large numbers of assets to reinforce the invasion. x is the type of craft/ship.Hope this helps some. :)
