I have a question about the command decisions. It says the allied ships can conduct two missions per month. Doesthis mean the North Carolina could sortie with a carrier group and goout on patrol? Damage recieved while with the carriers would carryforward to the patrol. If the above is true:1. Is there a point where I can voluntarily remove a ship from itssecond assignment because of damage?2. Can I replace a ship that is damaged in its 1st assignment with aship that had no assignment. (New Orleans for San Francisco)3. Can I cancel a mission that has lost ships in previous assignments? This looks like a lot of fun! Thanks in advance,Bill

Yes, and yes.

Yes.

2. Can I replace a ship that is damaged in its 1st assignment with aship that had no assignment. (New Orleans for San Francisco)

No. That ship is assigned elsewhere, to other commands if not used by yours.

3. Can I cancel a mission that has lost ships in previous assignments?

Yes.

This looks like a lot of fun!

It is!

Thanks for the quick reply! My only follow up question is when is the decision to cancel a mission or remove a ship done.Obviously it has to be done before your opponent reveals his next command decision but how? Apologies if this is in the rules but after a few readings I can't find it.Bill

We did not have the situation of ships being damaged and removed come up too often. Most players left them in. That decision should come immediately following the mission. The decision to voluntarily cancel a mission vs being forced to cancel a mission never came up, and may require further thought. I perhaps answered too soon on that one. In any case, that decision should be made before the next determination on the Engagement Chart. In other words, at the end of the current mission.Hope that helps.

Our group just started the campaign, and have only done the first week of the first month. Looking at the previous posts, it looks like you have to plot all the missions for the 4 weeks of that month. I had the idea that you could assign ships to missions and complete the resulting engagements for that week before moving on to plot the next week.

From the sounds of it, you may be playing the game incorrectly. There are four Command Decisions per month, not per week. So, unless you had a Theater Event that increased the number of CD's you have, you plot three or four Command Decisions for August, four for September, etc. So the short answer to your question is, yes, you do have to plot all your missions for the month. Just be sure you know how many there are available.
