I've made a set of custom ship cards for all the ships that participated in the 1813 Lake Ontario campaign in the War of 1812. I'd appreciate any feedback, and I hope you enjoy them! (I couldn't figure out how to upload them to the public files section.)

Want the miniatures for these cards?

They're all available at Swash & Buckle Naval Miniatures, as 3D printed 1:1000 scale kits:

They do look nice.  Thank you.  Any scenario write ups or do I have to dig out one of my books?  ( Some people are never satisfied!)

Joe,

I don't know if there are any scenarios, but if you go over to Boardgamegeek.com, there is an excellent Grand Tactical system that she came up with, specifically for use with her board game and the the Post Captain rules.  It's good enough that I have basically stolen it wholesale for use in any AOS campaign that I might run.  From looking over it, it's a pretty good bet that she's read Sam Willis' Fighting at Sea in the Eighteenth Century: The Art of Sailing Warfare.

What is the name of it?    The models look nice.  Too bad they are 1:1000 rather than 1:1200.  Though at this scale I wonder how much bigger they would look side by side?

Joe,

The operational boardgame is called, "A Glorious Chance: The Naval Struggle for Lake Ontario in the War of 1812." It made the cut for publication at Legion Wargames, and is in their queue for final artwork, final development and publication (if I were to guess, I'd say it'll ship 1st quarter of 2018).

You can preorder it here: http://www.legionwar...legion_AGC.html. The game is great for generating an endless variety of scenario setups that you can play with your miniatures.

If you're interested in the grand tactical rules and components, I've made them available as print-and-play downloadable files on the game's page on Boardgamegeek. Just go to the game page (https://boardgamegee...ke-ontario-1813), scroll down to the "files" section, and you'll see the grand tactical rules, charts, etc.

If you want historical scenarios, here's what I recommend: Download the living rules for GMT's tactical boardgame, Serpents of the Seas (http://www.gmtgames....inal-lowres.pdf). You'll find a number of good setups for the Battle of Lake Erie, as well as the various actions that took place on Lake Ontario, plus some 1814 what-ifs involving the larger ships that were launched then.

The game looks very interesting..  It would have been right up my alley 15 years ago.  Now I don't have the patience.  That is why I stick to character driven campaigns; very little paperwork and I can leave it for years at a time and come right back.  I wish you luck with it.

Thanks for the tip with Serpent of the Seas.  I know Mike as he helped me with  my variant for Down in Flames years ago.  Wooden Ships and Iron Men also covers Lake Erie.

Thanks again for the cards.  Will try them out this weekend.  If you do your ships in 1:1200 scale let me know.
