Hi

I'm from Poland. Unfortunately, I don't know English very well. I am looking for the log of the USS Omaha. I don't know how to draw a ship's log myself. I don't know what ship armor values are. I don't know the AA value either

Robert,

There are ship logs for USS Marblehead, an Omaha class CL, in the Defending the Malay Barrier campaign and the Royal Netherlands Navy supplement.  The latter will be cheaper, perhaps free if you have bought and registered your copy of the GQ3 rules and gained access to the GQ3 Private Access Library.  There have been several small supplements released over the years, some were free and some had a small cost, and I don't recall if the Royal Netherlands Navy supplement was one of the free ones.

I found  :D  Thanks a lot.
I still have one question: is there any guide on how to create new ship logs?

Robert,

There are Bonus/Design documents in the library.  For example, there are files that show how to calculate the AA factors (e.g. GQ3 AA USA.pdf, GQ3 AA RN.pdf, etc.), hull boxes and speed numbers (e.g. GQ3 Design Movement.pdf and GQ III Hull Boxes-R6.pdf), and radar availability (e.g. GQ3 RAT IJN.pdf, GQ3 RAT KM.pdf, etc.).  For armor values, use the table in section 1.6 Armor on page 1-11 of the rules.  Nowadays a little Google-fu can get you the data you need for almost any ship (tonnage, speed, armor, guns & torpedoes, etc).  I also have several books from "back in the day".

I have used both Excel and Word to do the actual ship logs in the past, and now pretty much stick to Excel. There is a Ship Log.xls file (or it may be in a zip file - I seem to have both on my computer) in the library that gives you a basic template.  I have since created my own Excel template that makes the logs bigger (only 10 or 12 per page, vice 24 plus rudimentary deck logs) to make it easy for my old eyes to view.  Unfortunately it doesn't appear you can post Excel files on the forum.  When I tried to post the ship logs I did for the Mackensen class BCs and Far Aft and Faintly "what if" ships for Defending the Malay Barrier, I had to post them as pdfs.

There are also sets of "Deluxe Ship Logs" for sale on the ODGW site, and a few free samples of them in the library.  At the risk of alienating some people, I have to admit I don't care that much for them, as I find them "too busy".  Still, I know many people are quite happy with them.

Hope that helps!

Dave

Robert,

I understand the language challenge, and commend your skill in the English language... Much better than my Polish, for sure.

I have become rather skilled at researching and creating custom ship logs.  If there is something that you are looking for, I offer to do that for you.  To do that, I will need the following information:

1. Nationality of ship?

2. Ship Name?

3. Ship Class?

4. What year?  Ships get refitted and modified over time, so I want to be sure that I am providing you what you are looking for.
