Hello,I need more than a few PIAT armed troopers for my WWII British/Canadians. I used GHQ minis. The problem with GHQ pack is that, in each individual weapon pack, their is only 2 piats and lots of motars, HMG, etc... I will need to by 3 packs just for the half-dozen PIAT I need. I got the same problems with my US troops and their bazookas teams.Do you know of a manufacturer who sold 1/285 piat in packs, like Old Glory does in their 15 mm range ?Thanks !!!!

Hello,I contact Mr Lock from Alder minis. He kindly offers me to send me a few sample of his work. He said that is minis are actually a bit bulkier than ghq's.As soon as I received the samples, I will let you know. But their products line look very interesting. For example, his engineers, 3'' mortars team for British paratroopers, AT gunners for British Para, etc. I think they will complete my GHQ models very well and might give my more poses if we can mix the products from the 2 company together.Robert

There is a great comparative review of micro infantry at the below site. Go to his 1/300 page ... there is then a "6mm Infantry Review" link that comes up top left of next page. Adler is the only range besides GHQ that have detail and size that interests me.http://homepage.ntlworld.com/bob_mackenzie/Bob's got tons of other cool stuff on his page. Including a good micro armor painting guide.

Hello !!I just received my first order of Adler minis. They are great !! The PIAT teams are on a small base with a prone loader and one prone gunner by bases. I have 10 such team plus 10 other teams in standing position carrying their PIATS and ammo.To have the same number of PIAT from GHQ, I will have to order 5 blisters instead of one and, then, I will not have the standing crew.I have aloso bought Paratroopers with 3'' mortar (wich GHQ dosen't make). Adler mortar are very nuce: the base are separetd in two with onegunner and the pipod in one base and the mortar tube and two other gunner on the other half base. It's nice as it will be a lot easier to paint (just paint both bases then glue togheter).I also buy British Engeneer with mine detectors, Bangalor torpedoes, Flamers and prone engeeneers with big wire cutter to cut barbed wires !The British 6 PDR anti-tank gunner ar cool: they even came with ammo boxes and are sitting.I am very happy with my order. The minis came on strip of 4 miniatutre and the strip are a little bit bigger than GHQ bases. I will just reduce the bases height in wich I will glue the minis and I think this will do nicely. Thanks Joel about your help. I nam considering using Adler mini for my infantry instead of GHQ for my Germans and US troops.

I've heard several good comments about Adler infantry.Over the decades I have managed to acquire micro-scale infantry from GHQ "old individual", GHQ "en-block", GHQ "new individual", Skytrex, CinC, Scotia, and Ross Heroics. Today I buy only GHQ "new individual" and Heroics and Ross. I like the GHQ castings better, but the Heroics Ross infantry packages have a much better mix, and are pretty robust for wargaming purposes, and my eyes aren't all that good anyways at these sizes.I don't even know if Skytrex still makes their 1/300 infantry. If they don't, that was the right choice. Oy, it was ugly stuff.I gave up on CinC infantry. Way too fragile for wargaming. My units take casualties every time I take them out of the box. Lots of broken ankles. I have pretty much given up on Scotia infantry. Too bad, as they make some very interesting selections. But the quality and scale of the originals vary too widely. Several of their infantry figures suffer terribly from "big head" syndrome. I bought a fair bit of their WW2 French infantry, and quite frankly found them unusable. (From a guy who accepts Heroics and Ross, that says quite a bit.)A note -- Adler infantry are also criticized by some as having "big head" syndrome. I don't know this from personal experience with Adlers ... only hearsay.Another note -- You can buy individual strips from GHQ if you don't want the blister-packs. Any item in a blister pack can be bought as an individual item (turrets, hulls, guns, or infantry strips). So if you get one pack, and find you need several more of one item in the pack, you can order just that item. The details are on the FAQ on the GHQ website. I've done it before (not with infantry, but other items) and it works pretty well. Pricing discourages doing it as a matter of course, but for that one item you need several of, it is a good program. -Mark 1
