I realize that the game cards have to be set in some time period, U.S. 1942 etc. If someone wished to play a 1939 scenario, is there data for other nations for this time period? What would be the effects on the U.S. (the advanced chart goes to 1940), Germany, French and Japan. Also is there any data for minor allied nations, Finland, Siam and the such?

An added question as well. Does the earlier ASW ships cost less VP since there ASW is not as good?

In the case of the USN, the sonar values would remain the same. While radar sets improved, sometimes dramatically, during the war, sonar was much slower to advance. The standard US sonar, the QC series, was first deployed in 1937 and went through small incremental improvements throughout the war; it wasn't until the deployment of the QGA series of sonars aboard the Gearing and Sumner classes that a truly substantial improvement in capability occurred. In game terms, the sonar values for 1941-42 would apply for 1939 since the sonars were the same QC series.

As for the British, German, Italian, Japanese and French, the values presented on the logs would apply. Much like the US, sonar advancements (in game terms) were slow and mostly incremental.

As for the minor nation data; CRTs, ship logs, and additional details are available for the Chinese, Siam, Spanish (for the Spanish Civil War), and Russian (which includes the Rumanians) are available as free downloads in the download library. The Netherlands is available for purchase as a download through the store. The northern minor navies (Finland, Norway, Sweden, Poland and Denmark) are currently in preparation.

As there is no difference in capability, the VPs would not change.
