hi all a general queary. the charts refer to fires and damage they do each turn until they are out. my question is in the damage tables it seems only AC and AV can get fires as a result of gunnery. is this true or can other ships get fires in a way i am not picking up?

Hi,

You are correct in that Cargo ships AC and AV can suffer fires as a result of gunnery as can Destroyers, Carriers can suffer Hangar fires while Battleships and Cruisers with their float planes aboard can also suffer the same fate.

Fires are on the "1" line of "where hit" for gunnery and the 4-5 line for torpedo hits as well as gunnery vs Carriers.

Where were you looking?

Regards, Phil

ok looking at the gunnery damage table and only AC-AV get a Cargo fire on a 1 or 11. no other ships get a fire on the gunnery table. and there are no fires on the torpedo table at all.

Hi Takxis,

You are right that FAI treats fires differently to GQ3.  By design they don't really occur in FAI.

However if you haven't found it already take a look at a discussion under started by me back in 2008 (wow! that long ago) titled 'C'mon Fisher light my fire!'  Lonnie gives his reasoning and provides an optional rule for the older ships in FAI.

You'll find it under FAI>Surface Operations - Part 7

Adrian
