I have a FAT rules question for you about the effects of funnel smoke on gunnery. Does a firing ship shift up 1 column on the CRT for each ship's funnel smoke the firing ship's LOS passes through or is it just 1 shift up no matter how much smoke her LOS passes through? I ask this because we were playing as if it was the latter during our Battle of Utsire Island scenario and if wrong our error changed the out come of the game as both sides gunnery became effective much quicker than it should have. I intend to put on the Wobbly Eight scenario soon and want to avoid a similar result if we were in error.

A firing ship shifts up only 1 column on the CRT regardless. The shifts are not additive for each smoke area the LOS crosses.

Thanks, that answers the question. Of course that leaves the Wobbly Eight hanging out in front of Hipper's battle cruisers; but life was rough in the North Sea.
