As I'm sure everyone knows, the Solomons campaign didn't end with victory at Guadalcanal. The goal all along was the capture or neutralization of Rabaul. Has anyone come up with a semi/unofficial outline for carrying the campaign on up the island chain?

This would make it much more costly for the Japanese to squander their largely irreplaceable aircraft, cruisers, carriers and fast battleships off Guadalcanal. Would also reign in the Americans to a lesser extent. At least they have hoards of new carriers, cruisers and destroyers being commissioned at this time. Aircraft pouring in, and new airfields for the taking. Plus, the Americans were gradually getting better at night fighting and AA defense. Still some very tough fighting. Lots of opportunity for small engagements.

I forgot the simultaneous New Guinea campaign. Trying to continue two widely separated campaigns from the same base severly strained Japanese resources, transport and manpower. This would make for an extremely challanging campaign for both sides. As it was in real life.
