Coastal raises a good point - there's not a lot you can do about dice rolls.


One thing you can decide - roll all the detection dice yourself, and then pass a slip of paper to the "captain".  This puts you more in charge of who detects what, and you can also give some doubt by how you phrase it.


"Radar / spotters detect possible contact at >>> bearing >>>, but it faded out / other lookouts couldn't see it".


Or you can just go for maximum game drama, and fudge the results.  Sounds unethical, but if you're trying to make a fun game, it's not always useful to have someone roll a '1' at max range and Acquire the enemy.  You're call.


I have a few missions for the later solomons if anyone wants to post them, don't believe I can here.
