hi am new to this rule set so bear with me. i know it is in there somewhere ( but having trouble finding it) but what do the thick black lines mean on the gunnery charts (not the damage chart which means must have penetrated)

ok just found it. but another question. on the torpedo CRT there is a standard and long range side is it just on the clear and filled in circles which decide which side you use?

The filled and clear circles denote the size of the torpedo.  For example, for the RN, the clear circles are 21" torpedoes while the filled circles are 18" torpedoes.  These correspond with the torpedo markings on the ship logs.
