On a larger table, day 10x6, using 6mm what are people's thoughts on extending command radius to 3" instead of 2"?

Hi Acctingman69! Usually, the command distance is 2" for most standard units but artillery, support, and recon are exceptions. There are optional rules for TQ affecting command distance whereby untrained units have to remain within 1" to be in command and elites can be with 3".
Having said that, I see nothing wrong with allowing greater command distance. It is your game and feel free to experiment with greater distances if you want. I have done various house rules for certain games whereby the Company XO can oversee a platoon and add to the company command distance that way. The command distances are realistic as is since 1 inch is equal to 100 yards. 3-400 yards for units within a platoon should be pretty realistic as a wide frontage. I base my squad stands on 3/4" square bases which figures as about 35-40 yards of frontage.
I hope this helps.
