Need a clarification between how these two rules interact; Troop Survivability and Direct Fire HE when a transport is destroyed. The Target is the transport.Troop Survival – when infantry are indirectly affected by an attack, they have a chance to get out of harm’s way. This is typically the case whenever a transport or building is destroyed while it contains troops.OK – this seems clear, however:Direct Fire HE (page 14.2) If you successfully hit the transport with HE fired direct, you roll on the Kill Table for the transport and each stand inside.I need just a clarification on this. Do you resolve the HE on the vehicle and the troops, and if the vehicle is destroyed then undertake a Troop Survivability roll?

Good question and I can see the confusion. In the past it has been the intention that an attack on an open top vehicle would result in an attack against each stand in the vehicle as well ... direct or indirect. Using HE of course, not AP.For closed top vehicles, troop survivability would be used. After having the question put to me ... it may be easier to simply say any HE attack (direct or indirect) against a transport (open or closed top) results in a tropp survivability check if the transport is destroyed. If suppressed, the infantry inside are likewise suppressed. This appears to be simplier and would eliminate an extra (and different) rule for open tops.

Thats seems to be the rather "playable" solution.

the answer to your question would be yes.Any "successful" HE attack against transport (open or closed) would result in a troop survivability check.
