Here's the PEL write-up for three General Quarters Fleet Action Imminent games that Bob and I will be running:F-028 Battle Of Coronel, November 1, 1914 WWI; 7 PM; Length: 4; Hosted by: Robert Henderson & Mike Baulch; Scale: 1/6000; Prize: 1/6000 ships used in the scenario; Rules: General Quarters 3, Fleet Action Imminent; No. of Players: 6.Battle of Coronel, November 1, 1914 - Sir Christopher Craddock and his 4 ships face Graf von Spee and his Asiatic Squadron off the coast of Chile. Can you do better than Craddock or replicate Spee's victory? Will the British fall back on the old pre-dreadnought battleship Canopus and how will that affect history? F-029 Flight Of The Goeben, August 7, 1914 WWI; 7 PM; Length: 4; Hosted by: Robert Henderson & Mike Baulch; Scale: 1/6000; Prize: 1/6000 ships used in the scenario; Rules: General Quarters 3, Fleet Action Imminent; No. of Players: 4.Flight of the Goeben, August 7, 1914 - Admiral Ernest Troubridge is in a position to cut off the German battle cruiser Goeben and her consort the light cruiser Breslau with 4 British armored cruisers, a light cruiser and three destroyers at the mouth of the Adriatic but chooses, in a decision that remains controversial today, to avoid contact with a 'superior force'. This scenario explores what may have happened had Troubridge chosen to fight. S-026 The Missed Opportunity - August 6, 1914 WWI; 7 PM; Length: 5; Hosted by: Michael Baulch & Robert Henderson; Scale: 1/6000; Rules: General Quarters: Fleet Action Imminent; No. of Players: 10.The veteran XIX Corps, needed in France, must be transported from North Africa. Historically, the convoy sailed uncontested. But what if the Central Powers had been more aggressive? In this game, the Austrian Navy intercepts the convoy. This earliest possible clash of dreadnoughts could have sealed the fate of France in 1914. The French outnumber the Austrians in all but dreadnoughts. But times have changed. Can the French numbers swamp the Austrians or will the Austrian dreadnoughts prevail?Rules Taught - Beginners WelcomeHope see you at Fall In!

I'd be interested in seeing a copy of that "Missed Opportunity" scenario - sounds like a fun one!

I've signed up for the Battle of Coronel - this will be both my first convention and my first time playing a naval miniatures game. I was wondering where I should go (or if I should try) to learn the rules beforehand. Or are you guys planning on teaching players before the game starts or during the game?

If you already have General Quarters 3, then you essentially will have the rules (other than a handful of WWI specific changes). If you don't, don't worry; we'll be teaching the rules prior to the game and, believe me, it won't be that difficult to grasp. The rules are very quick to pick-up. To give a example, at last year's Fall In!, I ran two games of GQ3 with no players having previous experience with the rules and a few having no previous experience with naval gaming in general. After a 10-15 min introduction to the basics and about three game turns, the players were running the game on their own without any input from me. By about a hour into a five hour game, I was essentially sitting in the corner answering the occassional odd question. See ya at the game!

I'm looking forward to Coronel to see what if any effect Canopus might have on the battle.
