When playing a ponit based game, what does special ammunition cost? As an example, the US Sherman (76mm) has HVAP:18 as special ammunition.

Hey Bob,My Apologies on this. I had thought this was included in the Chapter 9 of the Core Rules and it wasn't. I will get this info out to you within the next day or so as I am at work and don't have access to my notes that has the info. I do beleive it is just a straight cost, but I don't know what it is off the top of my head. So more to come... ;)

OK Bob,Here is the missing info:Point Values for ALL special ammo (including Panzerschrek, Panzerfaust, Piat and Bazooka rounds) is .5 x Penetration value for each round (Example: APCR:10 would be 5 points per round). This is paid for prior to applying the Points Multiplier. Any Vehicle with poor ammo can reduce its point value by 5%. Side Skirts or Schurzen (German term), are available for Russian tanks, mid 1944, and German tanks, 1943. The cost is 10 points for Also if the skirts are removed then subtract 10 points. The value of the side skirt armor versus HEAT rounds is 2*Side Armor Value +1. If the side armor of the vehicle is 3 then the vs. HEAT value will be 2*3+1=7. Zimmerite for German Tanks only. Cost is 5 points. Tanks with Zimmerite negates the placement of Anti-Tank Magnetic Mines German Night Vision Equipment for tanks costs 20 points and for infantry 10 points. Any Vehicle using the Special Breakdown Rules can subtract 10 points from the vehicle BPV.This will need to be added to the WW2 Data Book at sometime in the near future since I had neglected to add it before.

Thanks Bob for your answer, but I am a little bit confused about the panzerschreck, Bazooka and so on.Am I right that with your explanation above, that if a Panzerfaust costs 3 points, this is only the tube, and you have to pay .5 x 21 for each shot?

Hi Bob,Yes that was the intent, but that does seems a bit excessive for the personal weapons doesn't it. In a normal game, a stand typically doesn't use more than 5 rounds. I am wondering if just paying 2-3 points per sound would be sufficient? Thoughs? As to the Panzerfaust, the cost should probably be the BPV for each one and not worry about the penetration. hmmmm. Thoughts?

Exactly what I'm thinking. This would be way too much to pay for an infantry weapon.Perhaps we can try that the point cost of infantry weapons is per round.

Hi

This is obviously an old topic and I'm fairly new to the rules. I just wondered how people handle the availibility of the specialist ammunition for the tanks and anti - tank guns in WW2.
