It states to deduct ships that have sunk, or are 'disabled', shouldnt that read crippled? or is it saying to deduct crippled (assumed) AND disabled ships from this starting scenario?

mfarl2010,You are correct — it should read crippled. all the Allied ships damaged were crippled.Thanks for the catch.
