I'm running a WWI campaign in the North Sea covering the war up to the end of 1916 and I could use some help with ship cards for the Royal Navy pre-Dreadnought classes not covered in the rules; the Formidable, London & Duncan classes. If I could get just one example for each class I can modify it to represent the remaining ships.

Took a little time but here are logs for the classes mentioned. Hope these help!

You are a life saver and quite timely. The Brit was in no hurry to put these on the table with the Germans and is making repeated sweeps right up to the Bite to keep the Germans from having a go at the Channel Fleet. Now, I can tell him that even if they go, they'll go in style. Thank You very much.

I noticed that you rated the old crocks as having DCT. Is that a mistake? Just a question; I'm not asking for a do over if they shouldn't have DCT; I'll just instruct the players that they don't have DCT.

OOOPS! That was a goof; forgot to remove the DCT (that happens when you pick the wrong template; thanks for catching that!). Attached is the corrected logs.

Really, it wasn't a complaint (that's my story and I'm sticking to it), I just couldn't figure why the Brits would give fire control to those ships and miss out on dreadnoughts. Trust me, I won't mention the DCT when I show n tell the Old Crock's cards at our next naval get together. No siree, just how wonderfully responsive the site is to these kind of odd ball requests.

I hate to ask this, OK OK, I want to ask it. As long as I have you thumbing through your Conway's ATWFS 1860-1905; I also need ship cards for the early scout cruisers, Adventure, Attentive, Foreward, Foresight, Pathfinder, Patrol, Sentinel & Skirmisher and the Cressy class (Aboukir, Bacchante, Cressy, Euryalus, Hogue & Sutlej) armored cruisers for the same reason; they just might get the German's way if he ever makes it to the Channel.

Here's the Cressy and others.

Thank you, I'm ready now for Herman the German to put his oar in the Channel and stir it up with the old stuff sailing in circles there. I'm having to use the post dreadnought scout cruisers on the table (figurehead doesn't make the older ones), but at 1:6000, who can tell?

I expect to have some after action reports soon to let one and all know that things are heating up in the North Sea.

I proudly showed the ship cards you made to the Channel Fleet commander, who promptly popped my balloon by asking about ship cards for the 6th Destroyer Flotilla and the 3rd Division of the 3rd (by 1916 renumbered as the 9th) Destroyer Flotilla. So here I am again requesting ship cards for what is the third and I hope the last time for awhile.

I'm not certain what order the Tribals were assigned to in the divisions of the 6th, but with only 12 ships it seems likely there were only 3 divisions of 4 ships each. Unless you know differently; I suggest 3 divisional ship cards with Afridi, Cossack, Ghurka and Mohawk for the first; Tartar, Amazon, Saracen and Crusader for the second and Maori, Nubian, Viking and Zulu for the third.

As for the 3rd of the 3rd; I already have the other 4 divisions numbered as the 9th and unless you have a burning desire to redo the entire flotilla, I suggest a ship card for the 3rd Division 9th Flotilla with Laforey, Lawford, Linnet and Laverock.

There is no needc for single DD ship cards as I've made it quite clear to both the Brits and Germans that anyone having DDs steaming at sea outside of a divisional formation can expect a storm to come up and founder the offending destroyer. I offered to dice for it with 2 D6, but they need some kind of number to survive and the D6 I'm using are blank.

Here's the DDs. It is best to keep these in formation cards, given the size of the flotillas. Trying to do any of the big battles with many, many DDs would be just sheer madness.

Thank you again. I agree that using single DDs is madness; so much so that I've made it illegal in this campaign upon pain of death. That is I convert the offending DD into a sub diving with a screen door and send it to the bottom.

Lovely and timely, Coastal. Many thanks and Merry Christmas -- my Panzerschiffe collection includes a number of the Old Crocks and armored cruisers, and FAI is my sole preference for the period.

Thanks for the kind words and Merry Christmas! Yeah, I too have a soft spot for those big four stacked ACRs (especially the US ones). Pity they don't do so well in combat, but hey, they get style points! :-)
