Hi, I'm having trouble understanding the torpedo mounts in GQIII. The rules state that each mount has a number which indicates the number of tubes in the mount. This is then used when working out if more than 1 torpedo hits the target and for subsequent overshoots. This is exactly as it is in FAI but all of the mounts in GQIII are lettered without any numbers. I know which column to use on the Torpedo CRT but can't find the number of torpedoes for each mount anywhere. Am I going mad? Senile? or both...? My enter/carriage return key doesn't seem to work. Is this a known browser issue? I'm on Windows 8, Internet Explorer 10. Thanks, Kevin.

I checked my copy of the download and all the torpedo mounts are shown as a number in a circle (same as FAI). Unfortunately, I was not able to check the copy on the site as it is shown as broken (which may be a clue). I'd wait on this until the problem with the download file is resolved and then download it again. If the problem persists, then I'd contact ODGW directly (via the Contact tab) and see if problem can be resolved. I might add that the pdf file was created with the latest version of the pdf reader in mind.

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I think it may be a compatibility issue. The letters are only displayed in the amendment 2 files, although the 1 cm = 200 yds file has the correct numbers in circles, I will check to see if I need to download any updates for Reader but I think that I'm up to date. I marked the file as broken because I couldn't print the file. On further investigation the pages that wouldn't print in the complete 3.3 file are pages 82, 136 and 167. This was also true for these pages in the individual amendment files. I looked to update the 'file is broken' report but couldn't see a way to do it. Thanks, Kevin.

Hi, I've been checking the files in Reader and they are actually correct when viewed. However when I print them out the symbols used for the torpedo mounts and secondary armament boxes print with different symbols e.g. letters instead of number in circles, '&' instead of boxes. The printer is a HP Officejet Pro 8600 and has all drivers up to date. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this and does anyone know how to fix it? I don't think that it's anything to do with the files themselves. I don't know how the printer handles fonts etc so could that be an issue? I'm stuck now and have just bought the German Deluxe ship logs and they have the same issue. I would like to buy the USN and IJN logs but won't because if I can't print them I can't use them. Any ideas?? Thanks, Kevin.

I hate to say it, but it sounds like an issue with your printer set-up. Unfortunately, this is not an uncommon problem with printers. I did a test printing of some of the files and they printed out fine on my Canon inkjet and my very old office HP laser. The files were created with MS Word and Excel and converted to pdf using Adobe so that shouldn't be an issue. Now the items you mentioned are part of MS' Wingdings (strange name) font. Just a guess, but your HP printer may be tagging these as something different from MS.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I thought the same as you but I'm not sure because the Amendment 1 and Fleet Action Imminent files all print correctly with the Wingdings and Webdings symbols all printing without error. The printer wouldn't be selective. Is there something different about the production of the Amendment 2 files and the full 3.3 GQIII digital downloads from earlier digital files? Thanks, Kevin.

Hi, Just called the nice people at HP Support and the problem was with Windows 8. Their Reader was causing the issue so I've downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader and everything is printing correctly now. Thanks for your help. Cheers, Kevin.

Great! I was getting worried. Windows 8, huh? That (unfortunately) doesn't surprise me, although you'd think they'd get that right. But we are talking about MS now....
