We had a daylight game and a player pushing destroyers had a destroyer targeted with torpedoes. He rolled 2 D6 per the evasion rules and the lucky dog rolled a pair of 2's. I knew that at least one of the 2's was to be added to the attacker's resolution DR but I was not certain about the second. I checked the rules and could not determine from the text of the rule if the DR results were cumulative or not. It seemed to me that they should and I ruled it that way which with no good deed going unpunished caused me to miss.

My first question is did I rule right or did I make a mistake?

My second question has to do with the effect of the above rule on duds. As I understand it, a successful evasion DR is added to the attacker's DR result. That might not only run the adjusted DR result out of the number range required for a hit but might very well also change it to a dud. Am I understanding that correctly?

Both results would be added to the roll. In this case, the target DDs would have seen the launch and approach well in advance.

Yes, that is correct.
