Are dogfights automatic if two flights of fighters come within 5" of each other? Can a single flight force a dogfight with a whole formation of enemy fighters?

G' Day Confused,
Attacking is voluntary, but if if one flight chooses to engage, both are committed to the dogfight. By the way, the engagement range is only 500 yds (5 cms) or 2", not 5".
