Played our first game last night using the aircraft rules. The battle was a pretty standard armour only German assault on a Soviet controlled village. On turn 2 a Sturmovik IL 2M3 turned up to support the Soviet defenders and caught a great deal of German armour in the open. The German forces had 2 SdKfz 7/1 Quad Flak 38’s covering most of the attacking forces but a few Stugs were attempting to flank around a low, wooded hill to engage a unit of ISU-122 in the flank and were some way from the AA vehicles. The Sturmovik lined himself up to attack the Stugs which were foolishly advancing in a column and released a pair of rockets. The initial salvo overshot their intended target by 2” and hit the following Stug which erupted in flames. Iven, the Soviet commander, is captured below enjoying the sight of the burning Stug.Post edited by: Trotsky, at: 2006/01/14 06:12

The Stumovik flies over a group of ISU-122's as it searches out the Stugs

The view from the cockpit – unfortunately the Sturmovik was shot down by a series of very low rolls by the SdKfz 7/1 Quad Flak 38’s shortly after this attack.
