Not so much an announcement as a bit of a rant. A couple of us drove up to Lancaster PA yesterday (Friday the 13th) for Historicon...ugh, it was tough. The venue is in a pretty rough condition as it continues what looks to be a bottoms-up renovation, so things were in a state of upheaval. The flea-market was held in the theater, and the vendor area was packed to the point of bursting. A couple of my faves were absent...calls revealed they were unable to get space.

We hung around until 1500 for a game we signed up for (F-424) - the GM failed to show up, presumably due to unforeseen circumstances. We've never had that happen before.

Just a tough day. We did manage to blow $300+ on Dragon 1/72-scale armor, so not a total loss, lol. Also found a nice copy of General Quarters Part II from 1977 for the collection (always nice to see where we came from), and a nice Britains D-Day commemorative set.

HMGS moved the con back to The Host in Lancaster after what were reportedly a few lack-luster years in Fredericksburg, VA. I get that, but it sure would be great if they could find a new venue with a bit more space somewhere in central or eastern PA.

A couple of calls reveals that plans are in place to move the event to the Lancaster County Convention Center for 2019. Located in downtown Lancaster, looks like an interesting venue.

Hi Ken...yes, we stopped by the New Holland room on and off for thirty minutes or so on Friday...caught the tail-end of Michael McKnight's FAI run-through (F-663) and checked out a bit of Stephen Berger's raid on Kure game (F-582). Got a chance to talk to a few folks...hanging out with ODGW is always fun. Wish there had been some WWII Mein Panzer action going on (maybe there was earlier or later and our timing was just a bit off). Big armor mix-it-up games featuring 1/285-1/300 gear seems to be rather scarce anymore.
