So I was looking at the Ship Log for the Yamato and noticed that it has secondary gun armor listed (CL) but none of the mount boxes are bold as armored mounts should be.  Which is correct?  Armor or no armor, and which of the mounts should be bold if it does indeed have armor?

Mokman,

The secondary 6" (ok, technically 15.5cm or 6.1") guns of Yamato and Musashi do have CL armor, so the listing across the top is correct.  They are the boxes with '3' inside them, inboard of the main battery boxes.  If there were ship logs for the ships earlier in the war (pre February '44 and April '44 respectively), there would also be a secondary turret port and starboard, and only 3 5"AA on each side as shown on Musashi.  It is unfortunate the secondary turrets on the ship's logs were't produced with borders bolded between the thickness of the mains, and the unbolded lines (pretty sure the logs are originally done in Excel, and there is an interim thickness available).

I didn't think about it before I posted the previous response; however, I took a look in The Solomons Campaign (TSC).  In TSC, they elected to shade Yamato's secondary turrets.

Ah I see what is going on now.  The slightly less bold, but still bold boxes along the centerline are the secondary batteries and the small boxes above and below are the tertiary batteries.  That is not exactly how the ship logs are defined in the rules but I guess it is the best way to show the configuration once you understand what you are looking at.  I would assume then on other ships, like the Nagato, the bold small boxes are the secondaries, since they are listed as armored, while the un-bolded ones are the tertiaries.
