I'm not all the way through the rules, so forgive me if this is tucked away somewhere where I haven't seen it yet, but are there any rules for base size?

 

...or does anything reasonably sized and rectangular work?

There are no set base sizes, use what works for you.

 

Space for a ship's name is always a good idea.

 

Ranges are measured from the front funnel, or in the case of Rodney and Nelson, the front turret.

 

Make sure everyone knows the convention before play starts.
