This was one of my two games run at Cold Wars. This was the better played game so I'll post a proper AAR.The Game writeup in the convention program. Note the playerr list was actually for 4 players not hte 6 that was listed. Fortunately the Con folks were able to correct and only 4 folks registered to play!New Game S158 Fulda Gap – World War III4 hours; Rules: Mein Panzer; 12 mm.; 6 Players;Host Room Table H-2;by:Kenny NoeSponser: Old Dominion GameWorks (ODGW);1984 Fulda Gap Germany, The balloon has gone up, WWIII has started as feared with the Soviet Bear rolling west. The political reasons behind this latest Great War in Europe is of no consequence in the scheme of the modern battlefield. The only meaning life has right now is survival. M1 vs. T-80, Leopard II vs. T-72, and BMP-1 vs. Bradley. These combatants meet on a battlefield somewhere in Germany to decidewho is better and who is inferior. Can you lead the free world in pushing back the hoard rushing in from the east? Or can you bring respect and dominance of the Soviet Motherland to these capitalist warmongers. Come play Mein Panzer Core Rules in a larger scale, 1/144 and have a great time war gaming.

The Game was a meeting engagment between Soviet and NATO forces. When pulling the actual foeces I forgot the time line of 1984 and settled on 1988/89.Thus the players had the brand new T-80U, T-72B, M1A1HA Abrams, and the Leopard IIA4. Along with Bradleys and BMP-1 and BRDM-2 AT vehicles. The biggest surprise was discovered by the NATO forces was that the American ammunition of the time was of no value against the front armor of the T-80U!! Only the German AP ammo had a close chance to kill this new uber tank and the only platoon of Leo II's were depolyed against the T-72!! However the one saving grace for the right NATO flank was a very brave AH-64 Apache pilot armed with maverick missiles. This pilot flew at low level against AA to get attacks on the tops of the T-80.The Soviet advance required crossing 2 bridges. The BMP-1 and BRDM-2 could swim across the river, however the tanks had to use the bridges.First Strike - Apache kills a T-80U Posted Image

Having lost the FO in a previous turn.... The Soviet player is forced to use a BRDM-2 to call in Arty... However this is ruled to be a Non-FO call. The player rolls the dice..... and..... 20!!!The results are evident..... Posted Image

The game was a draw...The Soviets had difficulties crossing the river until they were reminded that 1/3 their units could "swim". Even then the one Soviet player was really cautious and went into a defensive posture. The NATO forces took the upperhand even thought they lost most of the init. rolls. The timidness of the Soviet and a well placed MLRS attack on one bridge stalled the "mass" Soviet columns. NATO was able to get into a good position so by the time the Soviets pushed through the barrage M1A1 and Leopard 2 were in OW set to destroy them. Given more time the Soviet numbers would have pressed the smaller NATO forces.Everyone enjoyed the game. There were 3 of my "regular" players that come to the HMGS conventions and seem to always be in my games and a new person whom had never played MPC.All in all good times.
