Hello,

When I'm firing at a softskin target, am I correct in saying I still use the basic to hit procedures and calculations, and I still will calculate the kill number as HE OV(1) minus DV(0) but I will apply the HE MODs to Kill Chart and add +5 (Softskin Vehicle) to make the final kill number a 6 and roll on the vehicle result table on the kill chart?

Also if I'm Direct Firing HE against infantry, I still have roll To-Hit to determine if I can place the motor template on the targeted infantry stand or if I have to deviate in case of a miss.....Even though I'm using HE FP in this case?

Yes, you still have to "Hit" the target.

On a successful hit resolve as written,

The HEOV depends on the size of the cannon being used (could be 1-3ish... I don't recall all the various sizes)  However, when the Target is a "softskin" the DV value is "s0" (basically zero) so you add +5 to the cannons OV value.

Cannon HEOV = 1

Target "softskin" DV = s0

On a successful hit add +5 to the cannon HEOV (now) = 6

Target DV = 0

Resolve on the kill table row 6.

Reference MPCR p. 8.3 Section Softskin vehicles

On a miss utilize the "Direct Fire Deviation" table to determine where the HE shell landed.

Yes you still have to "Hit" the target.   It's the target that determines whether you use HEOV or HEFP stats.   If the target walks or runs on 2 legs (or 4 incase of dogs) and bleeds red then use HEFP all other times use HEOV.  <grin>

On a successful hit resolve as written in the MPCR

On a miss utilize the "Direct Fire Deviation" table to determine where the HE shell landed.

Thank you guys. I get easily confused with all the variations between typs of target and types of ammo. Had to do a little process chart yesterday to get it straight in my head.
