This might be a silly question, but bear with me. When drawing maps and/or developing scenarios for Mein Panzer, what is an appropriate ground scale to consider? I know the rules refer to a "telescoping" ground scale for game mechanics purposes, but that's not helpful when trying to map out the game-table or build terrain.
This came up recently when I gathered a few playtesters for a session and one of the "rules attorneys" (there's always at least one, lol) disputed the stated scale of the map versus the actual scale of the terrain. The difference was admittedly significant (the satellite map used was ~ 1000 feet to the inch, while the game map was ~ 2000 feet to the inch).
But putting that aside, the real question remains - is a table less than a half-mile wide big enough to stage a large tank battle on? An eight-foot long table at 1/285 scale would equate to roughly four tenths of a mile.
I guess the answer is to simply restate the table scale and just play it out...the answer of whether it works or not will likely be determined on the table.
