And now, the setting for the next scenario. The Soviets are counter-attacking yet again, and 8.Panzer Division is bearing the brunt of it. This battle takes place in Narva, which will allow the Germans to defend with a larger force, if they choose. However, there is no bonus for advancing from here. After 1.Panzer's leapfrog to Leningrad, a victory for 8.Panzer is imperative. For the Soviets (Sacha et al), it is an opportunity to decisively influence the campaign. Here is the draft map prior to Sacha's rendering: Posted Image Cheers,Gregory

I hate it when I do that...Ahem, the policies and attitudes of both sides were hardly conducive to wide-spread participation by certain groups.By the way, I fixed the map.Chastened,Gregory

What does, 'opportunity to decisively influence the campaign' mean, could a Soviet victory win Sacha the campaign?

Well, if the Soviets stopped the Germans in Narva, 8.Panzer would have taken even more casualties in their attempt to reach the city and they would have only two rounds to attack it. Sacha would have had three rounds of attacking in Leningrad, and could perhaps even take a turn to gather some replacements if he felt the need. As it turned out in today's battle, the competing kampfgruppes are once again even. Welcome to Leningrad, German invaders! Now, prepare to die!Cheers,Gregory

Thanks – we can feel the tension building from here.Looking forward to the Leningrad battles – big naval gun fire, extra TRP’s, wacky untrained militia, and constant reinforcements of T34’s should make for a wild battle. Please keep us posted.

Our next battle will not be part of the campaign, due to Victor getting married, summer time responsibilities, the requirement for at least three players per side for this upcoming battle, extra set-up for the large scenario, etc. It will be a lot of work for both Sacha and me to put together the map, etc. So, we will have an interim one-off game. But be assured, these criminal Germans will face the wrath of Bolshevism!Cheers,Gregory

Finally....here's the AAR.But first, after round 3, both the 1st and 8th Panzer division fing themselves neck and neck at the gates of Leningrad. Even though the 1st Panzer Division got stalled at Luga, the 8th Panzer Division got detoured through Narva. Posted Image
