In late September, elements of the 1st Panzer Division will attempt to smash the soviet defenses on the outskirts of Leningrad.Attached are some pics from Google earth that show the area where, historically, the 1st Pzr Div engaged the Soviets.

One more pic, showing ground scale. The vertical white line is approx 3600yds (6ft) and the 1200yds horizontal scale is 2ft. The "Placemark" is Hill 167 (167m high).Cheers,Gregory Posted Image

Well....I'm surprised Gregory has not left a message yet. What to say about our last battle. Well, here it goes.....Not that the game wasn't well organized, it was.Not that the game didn't go smoothly, it did.Not that the game wasn't interesting, it was full of anticipation. It just sucked the life force from me. It started off with the poor tactical decision, by yours truly, of pitting Mark IVf1 against T28s head to head at 800 yards. After 3 turns of slowly losing my tanks and watching my shells splinter off their frontals, you would think I might move around and flank them. Well, I didn't. The Soviets probably rolled "1"s half as many as times I rolled "20"s. Even combined batteries of 105mm and 150mm howitzers resulted in a section out of ammo and large shells bouncing off the tops of T-34s. Speaking of T-34s, once my company of Mark IVf1s was out of action, and all I had left (armor wise) is a company of Pzr 38(t) tanks, it's tough to have the strength and combat a company of T-34s and a company of T-26 tanks. It could have been a fun battle, but sometimes those first 2 to 3 turns can be critical, it can make or break yah. In my case....I routed. So don't expect any pics from this one.KG Schwarzkopf and the 1st Pzr. Div. got slapped silly at the suburbs of Leningrad.Out!
