Artillery has had the capability to fire artillery shells in either air burst or ground bust since 1780 (Google - Henry Shrapnel)The artillery rules in Mein Panzer assume ground burst only. There are no rules to allow a player to call for either air burst or ground burst. The following definition clarifies the differences between air and ground burst artillery:"The principal military advantage of an air burst over a ground burst is that the energy from the explosion (as well as any shell fragments) is distributed more evenly over a wider area, however the peak energy is lower." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_burst)Additionally, when artillery is air burst in woods this will increase the amount shrapnel that is available to cause damage to infantry and soft skin vehicles.I propose the following rule addition:Air Burst modifiers added to the HE Modifiers to the Kill Table.VS Infantry-4 to HEFP value and effects Barrage Template Square plus all adjacent squares.-2 to HEFP value and effects Barrage Template Square plus all adjacent squares if in trees.VS Vehicles.50 the HE OV Value and effects Barrage Template Square plus all adjacent squares..25 the HE OV Value and effects Barrage Template Square plus all adjacent squares if in trees.Additionally I would like to add the following to the Artillery rules in Chapter 10. This would be a paragraph after the Converged Fire section.Air BurstIndirect fire can have the devastating effect of covering a larger area by setting the proximity fuses to explode the shell a few meters above the ground. This distributes the explosive energy and shrapnel over a wider area but lowers the over all destructive effect had the shell exploded at a point on the ground. This method of attack is most efective against infantry and soft skin vehicles.Don and I play tested the numbers a few times and the numbers felt right. Anyone else wanna try this??Thanks --Kenny
