What happens if on the Torpedo CRT a row shift takes the results off the chart? Is this a no chance, automatic miss then? Also, I noticed that there is a change on the Surface Gunnery Chart Torpedo CRT adjustments, in that the Bow Arc and Stern Arc Adjustments were split from 1 row shift down to Bow on as 1 row shift down and stern as 2 row shifts down. Is this correct, as there is no reference to this in Ammwendment 1? I mention this as if the answer to my first question is yes, then a Stern on torpedo shot is an automatic miss unless the launcher obtains a possible hit in the 1st range band. Note that I don't disagree with this, but I am just seeking clairification. Thanks, :)

I think the answer to your first question is yes.Actually the IJN and RNN have a small chance at longer range "up the kilt" shots simply because they have torps with 4 range bands. An idiosyncrasy of the column and/or row shift mechanic...

That would be correct; by the book, if the adjustment takes it off the chart, then it's an automatic miss. (In fact, doctrine of most navies discouraged such shots since they were very low percentage hits, even with a slow moving target). Now that being said, a case for extrapolating below the table could be made and reasonable probabilities projected. But to be honest, I don't think this situation has come up in my own gaming.
