Hi Forum, imagine a Division of equal Ship types in "Line Abreast".I learned that you should use the weakest ship for a maneuver, so if I want them to do a maximum starbord turn the leftmost destroyer is the "weakest" ship, because it has to travel the most distance. So I will plot my movement for that GT with this ship (it maximum Movement distance) in mind. Now situtions may come up (because the ships are so far distanced to each other), that the rightmost ship has to decelerate too much (at a rate that is not allowed).I hope you guess what I am thinking of ...So my question: How exact do you calculate these limits during maneuvering - or is there a rule of thumb, that does not oblige players to calculate restrictions for individual ships?Greets Franz
How exact do you handle maneuvers of Divisions?

Divisions usually will move at the speed of the slowest ship within the division. So if you have a DD division of 3 34 knot DDs and 1 32 knot DD, then the maximimum divisional speed would be 32 knots. All divisional movement is based on 'Follow the Leader'; whoever is at the front of the division (whether its the flag or not), defines the course for the rest of the ships following. So the normal method of movement is to move the lead ship and then bring up the remaining ships behind (keeping the following distances consistent throughout) and, of course, noting any point where a change of direction is made. The following ships are assumed to make any small changes in heading and speed to maintain the formation while the overall speed and heading is defined by the lead ship. Its easy to over think divisional movement, but this simplification makes it easier to handle (and actually represents what the real ships do).So my question: How exact do you calculate these limits during maneuvering - or is there a rule of thumb, that does not oblige players to calculate restrictions for individual ships?
