Hi A quick question about evasive action it is listed as a modiver in the to hit on the gunfire table. But I cannot find any referance to it in the rules.I am assuming it is only for smaller ships and that it would probably reduce the max speed of the ship, but cannot find any referance to it, can any one help?ThanksWilliam

The 'Evasion Modifier' for gunfire is related to the 'Fleet Action Torpedo' system. When using this system, the target ship of a torpedo attack rolls for evasion. A sucessful evasion by the target ship has the effect of 'throwing off' the fire solution for its own guns, resulting in a negative adjustment for fire in that turn. For a more complete explanation, see '7.4.9 Alternate Fleet Action Torpedo Attacks', 'Evasion Action' and '7.5.7 GUNFIRE CRT Adjustments',' Fleet Action' dialog box.Gunfire evasion or 'chasing salvoes' (which you're referring to) is already factored into the CRTs, so no further adjustment is necessary.

William,Evasive Action relates to an optional rule presented in GENERAL QUARTERS THE THIRD EDITION. It was inadvertently omitted from FLEET ACTION IMMINENT, the WW I equivalent, but referenced in part in several related rule sections. Here is the full text of the optional rule:1.5.11 Evasive ActionThe captain of a DD or TB can employ violent zigzagging along her base course to present a more difficult gunnery target. He announces “evasive action” when starting to move her miniature and reduces her movement to three-fourths of her normal distance for the Game Turn. Torpedoes cannot be launched in a Game Turn in which she is taking “evasive action.” Shift UP one row on the GUNFIRE CRT when making a gunnery attack or resolving an attack against a DD or TB employing “evasive action.” Place a penny alongside the DD or TB to signify she is taking “evasive action.”This optional rule can be used equally well in FLEET ACTION IMMINENT.LONNIE
