What does the bold black line on the gunnery charts repreesent? Is it a vulnerability zone to differentiate between belt and deck armor? Or something else? I may be missing the explanation in the rules, so could someone either give me an answer or a reference to it in the rules, please?ThanksKaarle308

Just had our second game of FAI yesterday and this came up when we were trying to figure out if intervening DDs blocked the fire of heavier ships. The Line of Fire rule (I think) specifies that the bold line delineates "high elevation" ranges that allow you to shoot over intervening ships. If the target is in a range band above the thick black band, and there are no other targets within 3000 yds of the firer, it can be shot at. I don't know off-hand if there are any other meanings.

That would be correct. The target would need to be beyond the black band and any intervening ships (friendly or not) over 3000yds from the firing ship.
