I need some clarification about the Ammunition result on the Critical Hit table:1. The description of the AMMUNITION result in Section 1.7.1 states that when the AMMUNITION critical hit result is rolled, a MAIN BATTERY barbette or magazine is penetrated, leading to the roll to see if the ship explodes or is avoided... 2. Looking at the description of the Ship Log described on page x of the introduction shows that a ships armament is listed on the top left of the ship log with the MAIN, secondary and tertiary batteries listed in decreasing font size...3. Referring to the ship log for the CV IJN Shokaku , she is listed as having NO main armament battery but having 5"AA secondary armament battery...With the above in mind. if the IJN Shokaku is somehow involved in a surface action and receives an AMMUNITION result due to a critical hit roll....does she blow up? IF not what is the result of the AMMUNITION critical hit when a ship is listed as having NO main battery?

Yes, Shokaku would go down. Not necessarily to an explosion of a main gun magazine (such as Hood), but due to any number of other major explosions (such as cooking off the bomb or torpedo magazine or a secondary magazine going off or even a burst boiler). Keep in mind, even a lowly AMC would have a substantial amount of explosives on board, which, in the right conditions (or wrong, depending on your point view) could cause the catastophic loss of the ship.

A carrier especially has many dangerous spaces, that could theoretically be called the main battery, The hanger deck, the bomb and torpedo magazine. in The Solomons Campaign there is a rule that a bomb or shell placed into a bunch of readied aircraft automatically causes an extra fire. Seems reasonable given the collection of weapons present.
