In comparing the Alternate Fleet Action Torpedo rule between FAI(rule 7.4.9) and GQ 3 Admendment 1(rule 1.14.13), I found what seems to be an inconsistancy...In FAI,the rule states that the captain is to roll a D12 to resolve the torpedo attack.....In GQ 3 Admendment 1, the rule states that the captain is to roll a D20 to resolve the torpedo attack...Is the use of a D20 for GQ 3 for torpedo resolution as opposed to a D 12 like FAI a purposeful choice or is it possible an error as all of the other Alternate Fleet Action Torpedo rules are identical between the two rule sets.

the use of the D20 to resolve the torpedo hits in GQIII is correct. This is due to the greatly increased chance of hitting the target using the new torpedo rules.

If that's the case, shouldn't use use a d20 in FAI as well if using the new torpedo rules?
WW1 torpedoes were much less accurate than WW2 ones, whereas this implies they are more accurate.

The D20 would apply to both FAI and GQ3.3.

Not to resurrect old topics, but it looks like the 3.3 rules say D12 to resolve torpedo attacks (whereas amendment 1 said D20)?  Did it not get incorporated correctly, or did you change your mind?

Well, after much debate among the design group (sometimes loud debate), the final cut came down on the side of using a D12.  If you want to tone down the torpedo effectiveness, you can use a D20 (gamers choice).  Granted, given my abysmal luck with torpedoes, using a D12 instead of D20 didn't seem to help much!
