Hi,

How do you do when you are firing on the CRT and UP 1 Row Modifiers take you to a cell where there is no odds/chances to hit?

I ussually allow to roll 1 D12 die and hit on a 1 die roll, but probably I'm wrong.

Example: In the US Navy CRT. Range is Day and 18000 yards row, firing 5inch gun. The hex list 1/2 CL..(Halving down the number of D12s rolled usually allow to roll only 1 die). Whe are in the initial salvoes (half D12s again), turning to unmask batteries (4 Point turn = Up 1 row) which put me in the 21000 row in an empty cell.

Questions:

1.- in the situation described, Can I roll any dice?, and thus eliminate initial salvoe modifier next turn.

2.- My destroyer, doesn't matter the class, only has 2 single 5 inch mounts 1 fore and 1 aft. If firing a broadside it can roll 1 D12 dice. Halving (round down) for such a far distance allow me to roll 0 dice (but probably the minimun is 1 d12, see section 1.5.5 extreme range). Halving again for initial salvoes and round down will allow me to roll 0 d12, But again the minimun should be 1 d12 (as stated in section 1.5.5 Extreme range the minimun is 1 d12) Is this correct?

Sincerely, Alejandro

1) The way we play it is that if the modification results in a 'no chance' result, then no fire is possible. This reflects that the conditions (range, visibility, etc) preclude getting a workable fire solution.

2) This is correct. As written, the minimum is a 1 D12 roll (with a 1 being a hit). Another, optional solution, is to roll 2 D12. The first die result (even=hit possible, odd=no hit possible), and the second die result (1=hit).
