It appears from the "Renew Flights" table that the US gets its carrier air groups back in full, while the Japanese don't. Is there anything the Japanese can do to rebuild their carrier air groups? (Is there any way a US carrier can suffer from over 50% losses in its air group? Overnight, it gets all its damaged and half its destroyed aircraft back, and therefore should end the turn at at least 50% strength, to be totally restored next turn so that cumulative losses are not possible.)

How does that work for LBA losses? Does the US automatically get it back? How about the Japanese?

Is LBA destroyed if its zone is occupied by an enemy ground unit, or does it get to retreat or something?

If an LBA unit is destroyed, is it possible to reconstitute it somehow? If a non-deployable LBA unit has its base captured and then recaptured, does it come back in any way?

Is there any way to recover a destroyed GCU, or are we just supposed to be careful with them?

I send a GCU on a troop convoy which is attacked. Is there a level of convoy losses that destroys the GCU?

LBA in the context of this short, intensive, unprepared for war does not get replaced. Neither side was banking on coming to blows at all, so there were no training cadres set up and manufacturing lagged behind need.

Is LBA destroyed if its zone is occupied by an enemy ground unit, or does it get to retreat or something?

Most multi-engine aircraft of the era could fly 1,000 NM or more one way, without the need to form up or have fuel for high speed combat maneuvers. Thus, multi-engine bombers evacuate to another friendly air field, while the short legged single-engine fighters, DBs and TBs are eliminated when their base is lost.

If an LBA unit is destroyed, is it possible to reconstitute it somehow? If a non-deployable LBA unit has its base captured and then recaptured, does it come back in any way?

No, a destroyed LBA would not be reconstituted within the time framework of the game. Regarding non-deployable LBA, arguably the multi-engine types could relocate to another field, but they would lack all their maintenance and ground support, which would seriously hamper their effectiveness, so no, they cannot relocate.

Is there any way to recover a destroyed GCU, or are we just supposed to be careful with them?

Within the time framework of the game there would be no replacements, so care should be exercised with ground forces, especially American amphibious capable forces.

Note the answer in a different thread to this very question.
