Hello,

I have a question about the fleet torpedo rules in the Amendment 2. The rules state that you roll for the torpedo to hit if anything is within the arc of the selected direction and within the appropriate range band.

What seems odd is that breadth of the arc expands the farther the torpedo travels, giving the ironic result that a target is easier to hit the farther it is from the point of launch. I understand that a D20 is used instead of a D12 to accomodate for this, but I am wondering if I am reading the rule correctly and if anyone else finds the result unintuitive?

Thanks
JJ

Yes, that is the correct interpretation. The anomaly is offset by the decreased odds of hitting at longer ranges, plus the movement of the target in relation to the launch point. Additionally, the spread, at normal engagement ranges, is not significant enough to present a problem. The end result is that it is very difficult to hit a ship at long range with torpedoes (just as it was historically).

The target becomes more difficult to hit at the longer range, especially using a d20.
