Is the correct maximum speed for the Trento class cruisers 35 knots (deluxe ship logs) or 31 knots (3.3 logs)?

Hello,

The correct speed should be 31 knots. One of the problems with the Italians is their speed numbers. In a bid to inflate their ship's capabilities, the Italians would run their trials with a unrealistic load out of fuel and stores (no ammo, no fuel beyond what was needed for the trial and no supplies for a full crew). Consequently, very high speeds would end up being recorded while the more realistic service speed would not. Before the logs came out an attempt was made to scrub the original logs of these higher speeds; unfortunately (as you found) not all were caught.

Yeah, I've seen Littorios quoted at 31 knots in some online sources. Probably the same principle. Anyway, hopefully that makes the next round of updates. Thanks for the reply.
