Due to real life issues, our play test group has succumbed. GQ 3 needs a few knowledgable Naval Gamers to play various forces in various campaigns. Right now the Naval War in the Mediterranean during early WW2 is the test subject. We are trying to sand off the rough spots and apply as much detail as we can while maintaining the playability as the most important factor. It does take some time, I have expended a few hours on most weeks, more on a few and none on other weeks. A bit of flexibility is very helpful. We also do not argue, although we may disagree; it is always a gentlemanly disagreement. None of us know everything and new facts keep cropping up. Verifying these and their accuracy is sometimes very hard. But you always come out a little more knowledgable.
Lonnie Gill is the final say on who joins the group. What we are testing and our findings are not public until the game scenario is published and some of it not then, as ultimately things have to be trimmed, cut or increased in value to make the game work. This is a Game for fun, NOT a simulation, although we want it as close to historically accurate as we can make it. The big issue is that all of us have access to the history and know things that the commanders we play never knew. And as alluded to before, some of what we think we know may be totally false. There are still those out there who think the BISMARCK was the best Battleship ever built. Every design has its flaws and no ship was perfect, let alone perfect in every situation.
Anyway, think about it, and if you can assist, let us know. It's not always fun, but it sure is instructive!
