Jagdpanthers

These Jagdpanthers were painted many years ago using enamels and an airbrush for the base color and the green camouflage pattern. The tracks were painted rust. I decided to refurbish them, reworking the details and giving the vehicles decals and a more weathered and less stark look in the paint scheme.

The models are GHQ.

The zimmerit pattern on the models was applied before painting with an Exacto knife.

Excellent work on the Yamato, Begemot!  You have really brought out the fine details on a great model.

Pete - Thanks. The Yamato and her sister Musashi were beautiful ships and GHQ created a great casting. It inspires you to try your best to match the quality of the model.

US Cold War Infantry

Here are some US Cold War infantry, circa 1976, that I made from GHQ's Modern US Infantry c. 1990-2005 figures. These figures were selected because they had the appropriate load-bearing-equipment (LBE), gas masks, and the M-203 grenade launcher. They did not have the correct helmet nor the M-60 machine gun. GHQ's Vietnam US figures had the correct helmet and the M60 machine gun, but the M79 grenade launcher, no gas mask and the figures were too big, so these figures were not acceptable. By trimming the flange on the helmets of the modern figures, I was able to make a passable facsimile of the M1 "steel pot" helmet.

The project was to create the dismounts of a US mechanized infantry company for the late 1970's in Germany. So here are samples from this project.

A rifleman:

An M60 machine gun (not really, but I cut the gun up to get it as close as I could):

A Dragon ATGM gunner:

The company commander (in permapress fatigues - they were always a darker color than the standard fatigues) and radio-telephone operator (RTO):

Talk of "trimming the flange on the helmets" of 1/285-scale infantry is nothing short of amazing (and depressing, lol). These figures are terrific. Someday I hope to break mine out for a bit of rework, and these would make good examples to work from.

Those are some mighty fine looking BT-7s, Begemot!  The BT-7 has the same basic look as the T-34 with the Christie Suspension although it definitely did not have the T-34's armor or armament.
