Who’s goin’?

Bought a one-day badge today for Saturday...looked liked the events calendar was booked solid. Might be hanging out in Wally’s Basement for a couple hours, lol.

ODGW crew will be there.  We don't have a dedicated game room like at the Host.  So looks us up in the TTE app for our games.

We will be releasing a NEW DATABOOK for the Mein Panzer Core Rules game system.   Arab / Israeli Wars vol. 2 1967 will be there for your ogling and buying opportunities.  There is a forum category already up and ready for comments.

See you at Historicon 2026

Missed you guys on our Saturday visit. You need to get that banner back up so we can find ya.

Was it my imagination or was the crowd a bit lighter this go-round? Seemed like a lot of empty gaming tables up on the second floor when we wandered around early on Saturday afternoon. Wally's and the vendor areas, however, were crowded. Despite a vow to buy little-to-nothing, came away with a bag full of miniatures, rules, and vintage paper games.

As an old guy, I have to say I'm not a huge fan of HMGS' on-line badge-purchase and event sign-up process. Seems very cumbersome to me, but maybe that's my tech incompetence showing through.

Always a good time...looking forward to Fall In!

Paul.

Sorry to have missed you.  This go around it was all Mein Zombie.  Just happened that way.  We don't currently have a MZ banner so I didn't think to bring them.  Don't worry all an MZ banner is in the works just ran out of time to have it made.  Saturday did seem a little light but I was told that Wednesday afternoon, Thursday and Friday was gang busters.  Don and I ran on Friday and we had lotsa players. Tu and William ran on Sat and were also full.  It's something about zombies....  There were 950 games registered for the entire weekend (including tournaments and vendor demos).   So, lots of games

As for the badging experience, I always go to a person behind the desk.  Not been too keen on the QR code stuff.  They had Don's information all messed up.  Tried to tell him he wasn't a member until I pulled the membership payment invoice for all ODGW folks.  Then the Desk manager was off to the IT folks to straighten things out.  Took 20 min but Don finally got his badge.  While a pita, the desk crew solved the problem and made things right.

Dunno what sale were.  I know there were 3 AIW2, 1 or 2 MZ books and cards and at least one GQ3 books sold.  Fingers crossed for more sales TBD.

Thanks for all who came out and participated in our games.  I'll be running a Mein Panzer game at Fall-In!!

Kenny -

Just a generic ODGW banner would be helpful, lol, although if you don't have an assigned/dedicated area, then it's probably not practical to stake your ground. No worries...we need to do a better job of finding ODGW's events in the PEL. This would give us your location. We usually try to get up there on Thursday or Friday, and the sessions are usually numerous and well-attended. As with most cons and meets I go to, Saturdays and Sundays tend to be lighter in attendance, with some folks packing out early for the long trek home.

With regards to the badging process, if you want to sign up for any games in advance, you gotta get your badge on-line and add the games to your profile. Signing up for games at the con is pretty much a non-starter as most sessions are full and there are very few games with openings for players remaining. So, you gotta get your badge when it first opens on-line and add the "events" you want to participate in as soon as possible. I usually attend with one or two other folks, so coordinating event-signups is a challenge.

I did see a rack of ODGW product down in the vendor area. I need to get a copy of the ACW data-book, but the two times I wandered by, the person tending the display had apparently stepped away. No worries...I can order on-line.

All that said, we did see some terrific sessions during our visit. There always seems to be a dearth of 1/285-scale armor games going down, but we did see this "Yuletide in Ukraine" scenario:

The ruleset was Thunderbolt!, one I'm unfamiliar with. The scenario was premised on a hypothetical action in the farmland north of Kherson in late 2022. GM was Shawn Franklin.
