I requested that the original IJN files that I put together be pulled off the site due to finding more than few goofs in the logs. I'm currently reworking them (along with the RN, USN, KM, MNF and RMI; in other words, ALL the navies represented in the game) and should have them back up by the end of the week. Just want to note one thing: the logs are transcribed out of the game PDFs and are not new ships. The only exception to this are some very limited examples where one unlisted ship class (not on the PDF) is an extension or modification (and a minor one, at that) or one already listed on the PDF. Lets face it: most of the ships (or classes of ships) that most of us are going to deal with are already listed on the PDF. The only major active duty "missing persons" are the US Omahas (Lonnie has already indicated these will be avaiable in due course along with a few more Japanese), a few RN carriers (Hermes, Glorious and Courageous, most noteworthy), and some IJN small escorts (all of which were used in convoy service). Other missing ships would fall in the "too late" or "never were" category: the RN's "Battle" class DDs and Lion class BBs, the USN's Midways, Montanas, and Des Moines CA, and, of course, the the KMs vaulted Z-Plan. Of course the minor navies are missing (most notably the Dutch, which Lonnie is working on), primarily because of space concerns and the very limited utility of the things (can anybody name that great Greek-Italian Naval battle of WWII or that that never to be forgotten Russo-German fight? Didn't think so...). I'll go into what the MS Word logs cover in an introduction sheet when the logs get posted, plus a short tutorial on how to modify them.

Coastal,Modifying your charts was not hard... trying to get data right was harder...I did OMAHA for '41 & '43 and the ERIE Class PG ... ERIE was sunk in 1942 and CHARLESTON served out the war in the Aluetians...The ERIE's were actually good ships, although poorly armed (for WW2). They were also the basis of the very succesful large Coast Guard cutters of WW2 IIRC. Had they been re-armed with 5" and some other minor stuff, they would have been fine escort commanders or escorts. With their side armor in place, they make interesting ships... CL guns and armor on a slow 2000 ton Hull. They certainly match up nicely with the CVE's for speed and endurance.

Had to take down the original Erie log (found some errors; hate when that happens...). This is the corrected log.

The software used is plain ole' MS Excel. The 'Blank Ship Logs' template is available in the Downloads section (goto 'Downloads', then 'Private Access Library', then 'General Quarters 3', then 'GQ3 World War II', then 'Game Charts & Logs', then 'Blank Ship Logs'). The 'Blank Ship Logs' template has the format and objects needed for torpedoes, aircraft hangers, etc.

For the Hull Boxes and Speed parameters, you'll need the 'Amendment 1 Design Files' (goto 'Downloads', then 'Private Access Library', then 'General Quarters 3', then 'GQ3 World War II', then 'Amendment 1', then 'Amendment 1 Design Files'). Page 2 will give you the speed breakdown for the hull boxes. Page 4 will give you the hull boxes for a given tonnage for WWII and WWI warships, and merchants.

Hope this helps.
