Are we out of luck?

Replacing the heavy card CRTs with printed out replacements (which can be of variable quality, depending what printer and paper you use) is a pain (all of us, regardless of which edition we bought, are in THAT boat!). But if the alternative is to produce a hard copy of Amendment 1 (as opposed to the FREE PDF version) and have to charge for it to offset the shipping and printing costs, than I seriously doubt it would have been produced at all. Regarding the hard copy vs PDF argument; well, that's up to the individual. I know gamers who swear by PDF rules and others who swear at them. For me, I went for the hard copy, since all I have is a cheesy 7 year old ink-jet to work with. But if you have access to a good quality printer (and use good, photo quality paper), then PDF might be your choice. Those of us who spent more $$$ and got the 30th Anniversary Special Edition, I mean. Do we throw away about 50 pages and use the Amendment 1 stuff that we print out ourselves, losing all that glossy paper and heavyweight charts? Pretty much makes the set much less meaningful. I might as well have saved $30 and just gotten the PDF version.
I'm not aware of a rash "significant errors" in Amendment 1. There have been some clarifications of one sort or another and one Italian DD that was missing a hull box (darn typo!). Could you be more specific?I'm also concerned that Amendment 1 has (at least) fairly significant errors, if what other forum posters say is true. What's up with that?
I can't speak directly for Lonnie or ODGW, but I doubt it. The bulk of the changes are in the CRT charts and Ship Logs (which stand alone from the main rules, in any case). The core rule changes are mostly a handful of clarifications and minor revisions plus the addition of some optional rules (such as the Fleet Action alternative torpedo rules and the new Turn Gauge).Keep in mind, you don't have to use the Amendment 1 changes. They're presented as an enhancement to the original rules based on new research, input over the last year from a variety of sources (including this forum) and the results from the development of the upcoming FAI rules and are meant to address the desire to continue the development of the game. That being said, the original unchanged rules can still be played on their own and produce good, realistic and, most importantly, enjoyable games. Will there be a PDF available later that has Amendment 1 incorporated into it, for a cohesive and coherent rules set?
