Where/how can i find out which ships are nominal for which guns?

do i just use the armour types of ships to put them in the same class

IE if target ship is a CA and the fireing ship is a CA it is nominal?

or is it on class IE all cruisers no matter how light or heavy are nominal to each other??


Sorry for these questions but im new and trying to get my head round the rules
and reading from pdfs on the computer and scrolling up and down a few dozen times i may be missing something

ok i now understand this where it is X1 in the equivalent hit chart
it means that gun is nominal for that target class
